I utilize my own shared recovery experience to provide compassionate recovery care and empower clients to a life of health and wellness.
No detox or cleanse for your body is needed to “recover” from a binge episode. Your body is perfectly capable of establishing homeostasis. If you are suffering from indigestion, heartburn, or other gut issues, you can soothe with hydration, & foods high in water content such as fruits and veggies, hot tea, and rest. Do. not. skip. meals. And your body absolutely does not need to be punished with extreme exercise.
Your mind may need additional soothing.
I love box breathing & 4-7-8 breathing.
Journal your feelings—explore what triggered your lapse and forgive yourself for the behavior. Let it go.
Take a walk outside if possible. Focus on your breath and recommitting to building a positive relationship with food.
Try restorative yoga with a fresh connection to your body. As you hold the poses, express gratitude for all the abilities of your body. You can find great yoga videos on YouTube!
Guided meditation will help you get to a deep awakened state of rest.
Contact your ED provider to help you explore why the binge happened and how you can prevent relapse in the future. Please know that early intervention and maintaining recovery care is the best indicator for recovery.
